“I am willing.” Jesus
Luke 5:13
Jesus says, “I am willing…”
-to give you peace (Luke 7:50, Psalm 29:11)
-to be your friend (John 15:15, Luke 5:20)
-to pray for you (Hebrews 7:25)
-to give you a full life (John 10:10)
-to show you the way you should go (John 14:6, Psalm 32:8)
-to prepare a place for you (John 14:2)
-to make your joy complete (John 16:24)
-to help you in your time of need (Hebrews 4:16)
-to give you strength (Psalm 29:11)
-to surround you with love (Psalm 32:10)
Questions I am asking myself:
What am I willing to let Jesus do for me?
What am I willing to do for Jesus?
Thank you to Jill Davis for sharing Luke 5:13 with me.
The question on my mind this weekend has not been what am I willing to do, but rather why do I do what I do?
God and I have wrestled with each other and with Satan for the past three days and this is what I have learned:
The death of my pride is a painful thing. It is like the loss of a limb or the death of a much loved friend. It pierces the depth of my humanity like driven nails. It comes slowly with much reluctance. There is no anesthesia. I wish it would come and go quickly and painlessly, perhaps while I am asleep. It leaves an open wound, raw and sensitive.
But of one thing I am sure. Jesus, who died a slow, painful death on the cross, has not forsaken me. He is here with me, cleaning the wounds daily and dressing them with grace, in tender, compassionate love.
Under His watchful eye and faithful care, healing will come and He will be the first to celebrate recovery with me. Let all praise and glory be to the God Who is willing and able to set prisoners free!
